A recent upload to the planning portal, from Des Dunlop (agent acting on behalf of the developers, LiveWest), stated “The site was grazed by cattle regularly up to about 2005. Since then, a mixture, but mainly horses.”

Many of us have lived in this area long enough to know this simply isn’t true.

We wrote to Somerset Council on 22nd October setting out the facts, not for the first time, about how these fields have been used in both the recent and distant past. You can see our letter below.

In the letter we asked that the facts we were sharing (again) were quoted in the planning report. This unfortunately did not happen and the incorrect quote from Des Dunlop has been used.

Yet again, local people’s voices are being ignored and history is being rewritten to suit the narrative of the developers.
